I have been so busy over the past couple of months that I have well and truly neglected my blog, I'm sorry! I wanted to update all of you with some exciting freelance work that I was approached to do by www.timeless-luxe.com. Over the past year I have Graduated from Uni, worked in bars, retail, written for magazines, you name it I've probably done it. The whole time I have kept my linkedin profile active and updated with relevant work experience and jobs. You may wonder what this has to do with Timeless-luxe but they actually came across my profile and asked me to look after their social media platforms. Timeless-luxe is an online platform selling preowned and rare designer goods from Chanel to Louis Vuitton. The price range is on a completely different scale to my work at Celliana and the target market a huge contrast, but it's great to learn about new markets. So if you are looking for that dream job make sure you keep your linkedin profile updated regularly as you never know when your profile is going to be exactly what somebody is looking for.

TMRW Issue 04 Launch Party

What better way to start your weekend than a magazine launch party in the sun? Last Friday I finished work relieved and although I'm not a Monday-Friday worker like a lot of you I still had that Friday Feeling. I headed to the Weekend Offender store on D'arblay Street, London for the TMRW Issue 04 Launch and let the good times roll. Back in spring I interviewed Arlissa for TMRW Issue 03 so I was eager to have a look at the new issue and see what hot shots in music and fashion they had interviewed this time round. The latest issue really feels like it has been taken up a notch in terms of quality and content, and with the wonderful Everything Everything gracing the cover, is that a surprise (*cough cough*)? TMRW editor Joe Brine really knows how to throw a party with Josh Kumra playing live, lots of free drinks and goodies oh and the FaceJacker was also spotted flicking through TMRW. If you are interested in great music and love a bit of fashion then I suggest you get yourself a copy.

An online portfolio

As a Graduate looking for a career in fashion STANDING OUT is so important. I've been applying for so many jobs recently and eagerly waiting replies , but quite frankly I want to be in a job that I enjoy ASAP! I have a First Class Honours degree and am so passionate about doing well, that I started to think to myself "How can I stand out from the rest?". Most jobs simply only ask for a CV and Covering Letter, and although I apply for jobs I know I can succeed in I think employers need an extra reason to invite me in for an interview. 

I decided that as I am going into a creative industry to think outside the box and create an online portfolio that can be attached to any job application. For anyone in the same position to me it is though extra little things that will make you stand out in amongst those hundreds of applications.

1. My first advice would be to note where your strengths lay and plan 1-2 pages on each one. If you are a stylist then keep your portfolio mainly styling and add a couple of pages of any other interests you may have, eg: writing or photography. My strengths lie in photography, styling, fashion writing and PR so I plan to create a couple of pages on each. I think it is best to put your main interest at the front as this will be the type of jobs you will be applying for most regularly. 

2. Keep it simple, screen shots, images but not a lot of writing. I have included one page at the front that act's as a kind of CV or biography but apart from that it is mostly images. This is designed to make you stand out and not to send your future employer to sleep. 

3. Include a contents page so that if you are applying for a writing role they can go straight to your writing work. This saves time and trust me these people viewing your applications are very busy-they will love this!

4. Be yourself, be honest and show off what you can do. If you have done photography in the past but don't want to do it in the future then don't include this in your portfolio. Otherwise trust me they will see you are an all rounder and plan you do EVERYTHING in your power to benefit them. 

5. Finally save as a PDF so that you can add pages when you get more experience and then send it out to as many people as possible! Remember you can't intern forever. 

I still haven't finished my online portfolio as I only started it last night but I wanted to share with you a bit about what I'm up to. It would be great to see what you think.

Living-in-a-fashion-world

London Living

It has now been 4 days since I have moved to London and I absolutely LOVE IT! I wish I had done it sooner but I am here now and loving every minute of it. I have nearly unpacked everything and the place is starting to feel very homely. Sunday was the first day where it really felt like I was living in London and me and my boyfriend went to Oxford Street shopping for the day. As the evening kicked in the christmas lights were absolutely stunning-it felt magical. 

I then had a meeting with Pause Mag-it was so nice to be able to hop on the tube rather than the train or coach I would normally have to take. Yesterday I had my first interview for Marketing Executive for a boutique on the New King's Road. The role sounds challenging and very fast-paced but it sounds amazing and I would love to get it! I have been asked back for a second interview so fingers crossed!
