Marc Jacobs SS15!

After a long line of celebrity endorsed advertising campaigns for his Marc Jacobs label, the fashion designer has taken a more innovative stance for his SS15 advertising campaign for his second label Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Quirky detailing, playful embellishments and stand out patterns are what gives Marc by Marc Jacobs that fun youthful edge. Appealing to those looking to make a statement with their outfit choices whilst building a wardrobe of overstated designer pieces. For the SS15 Campaign Marc put traditional methods aside for the second time and cast his models from straight from his phone through social media app, Instagram!

To enter with the chance of taking part in the photo shoot, you had to upload your style shot with #castmemarc. Oh & then you need to actually stand out, out of the 100,000+ images that were uploaded. In the end 11 models were chosen from around the world, including; London, America, Switzerland and South Korea. Take a look at the full campaign on Models.com

Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S 2013 Campaign

It may be December and the only thing on everyone's mind is CHRISTMAS! However some of us continue to look to the future and seeing what trends are going to hit our stores next year, not to mention S/S advertising campaigns.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs is one advertising campaign for Spring/Summer that stood out for me whilst browsing through various campaigns. I can't help but see similarities to some of Vivienne Westwood advertising campaigns and I don't think this is a coincidence as they were both shot by renowned photographer, Juergen Teller. German fashion photographer has a long relationship with brand and designer Marc Jacobs, and has shot his campaigns since 1998. Known for their simple white boarder you can always identify a Marc Jacobs advert from afar, and I have no doubt the crucial ingredient is Juergen Teller.

My week through Instagram...

I have only had instagram since August but I am definitely addicted! I find it hard to go a day without posting an image, and whether boring or not I am going to share with a week of images with you.It has been another very busy week for me in London from sight seeing to lots and lots of interviews. I absolutely love London but I can't wait until I have money to go on a huge shopping spree.

Christmas lights on Regents St, London

The lights really are impressive in London this year and I love being part of the christmassy atmosphere every day. Regents St and Oxford St both have a lovely vibe at the moment and I must have taken about one hundred images now just of the christmas lights-sorry instagrammers!
Graduation-Fashion with Photography (First Class Honours)
On Monday I headed back to Southampton for my graduation! I know you may be thinking 'that's late' and yes in typical Southampton Solent style our graduation was months late. It was well worth it though and I finally had my moment in the gown and hat! Unfortunately my dad couldn't make it as he lost his passport, but the great thing about technology is that he could watch the whole ceremony online. I do keep joking now though that he will just have to pay for me to do a masters so he can make that ceremony (I can keep wishing!).

After my successful attempt at walking over the stage without falling over I headed back to Oxfordshire to go for a family meal. It was such a big day for me and I got absolutely spoilt.

New charms for my nomination bracelet-scroll and graduation hat!
After all of the excitement of my graduation I headed back to the big smoke in search of that 'perfect job'. I have applied for every job under the sun from Production Assistant at REP Ltd to Marketing Executive for a boutique in Chelsea. However in London it all seems to be a waiting game and in the end I had to accept a job at Forever 21, Oxford St. It isn't the type of job that I particularly want to be in but for not it will pay the bills and it is Oxford St!!

As we have only been living in London for around two weeks now it is all still very exciting. I love making the most of what the city has to offer and keeping myself busy. Today we spent the day visiting Tate Modern and generally being tourists around the London Bridge kind of area. James also starts his job tomorrow and I start at Forever 21 next week so we thought we would make the most of our free time!

Underage models. Yay or Nay?!

In recent months teenage models seem to be sparking more controversy than ever before in their use in fashion editorials, brand campaigns and runway shows.

On the runway Marc Jacobs is one designer who has on more than one occasion cast under 16 models in his catwalk shows. He responded to those against teenage models on the runway:

“I do the show the way I think it should be and not the way somebody tells me it should be. If their parents are willing to let them do a show, I don’t see any reason that it should be me who tells them that they can’t. There are children actors and children models for catalogs and stuff, so I guess if a parent thinks it’s O.K. and a kid wants to do it, it’s fine".

One model who has been cast for more than one of Marc Jacobs show is Ondria Hardin who has also starred in a sultry Prada ad aged only 13 raising even more controversy. How her parents are happy to watch their teenage daughter photographed like this is beyond me!

Even more shocking last year Vogue Paris featured 10 year old, Thylane Blondeauin high heels, full face of make-up and a navel baring dress. I remember only first seeing this editorial recently and even though the lighting and photography is up to Vogues high standard I can't help to think the 10 year old looks so out of place.

Thylane's mum, reality star and fashion designer has spoken out about the controversy her daughters shoot caused.

"It's pretty surprising to see them resurface seven months later. I understand that this could seem shocking. I admit I myself was shocked during the photo shoot. But let me be precise: the only thing that shocked me is that the necklace she wore was worth €3 million!"

However Vogue has since made a U-turn on their attitude towards underage models and recently announced they would no longer use models under the age of 16 in their shoots.

In my opinion teenagers under the age of 16 certainly don't belong on the pages of Vogue or walking down catwalks and I think more magazines need to follow suit of Vogue. In my eyes girls of 13 and 14 aren't stable enough to enter the fashion industry as a model, they should be out enjoying ice creams and going to the cinema!

What do you think? Underage models.... Yay or Nay?!
