Interview with Sons of Heroes

It's always great to see your name in print, and even better when it's a magazine that you have supported since the beginning. I started writing for menswear magazine, PAUSE in April 2012 and less than a year later I am Features Editor and have interviewed Vince Kidd, Mikill Pane and many fashion brands including Sons of Heroes. The team is close knit and everyone works really hard and each issue is growing stronger and stronger. Juergen Teller-Woo

For those of you feeling a little glum because Tim Walker's 'storyteller' exhibition has now ended, don't worry Juergen Teller's exhibition at Institute of Contemporary Arts is now open! The artist and photographer is best known for his portraits of Vivienne Westwood, Lily Cole and Kurt Cobain, as well as shooting most of the advertising for Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang and Celine.

The exhibition opens with a very open view of Dame Vivienne Westwood herself. It's not exactly how every 71 year old would like to be portrayed but it looked and felt so right. Vivienne Westwood was very much a part of the punk genre and has a typical 'I don't care' attitude. I think it's brilliant that at her age she has the confidence to bare all in from of the huge amount of people who will visit the exhibition. 

 What is brilliant about Juergen Teller's work is that it is so versatile but always fascinating. Whether he is photographing Kate Moss or a cute kitten there each image is as brilliant as the next. As well as exhibition space Juergen Teller's work took up 'The Fox Reading Room' at ICA. It was a room with top to bottom Juergen Teller tear out's from some of his most well known photography and advertising campaigns. The only grime I had about the exhibition was this room was far too small, apart from that it is a brilliant day out and it is FREE!

I would definitely recommend visiting the Juergen Teller exhibition on a week day as it will be a lot quieter. It is a brilliant exhibition for anyone interested in fashion or photography and shows some of Juergen Teller's best work. Be warned there is ALOT of nudity!! Also you are not actually allowed to take pictures, so you have to get your iphone out and take them on the sly. A girl there had a disposable camera and I thought this was a brilliant way to get some pictures that will actually look half decent. I will definitely keep this in mind in the future! Fourth and Main #2

I recently stumbled across Art and Culture publication Fourth and Main and was so impressed with the quality of the writing, photography and overall presentation that I had to share it with you. After researching a little bit into Fourth & Main, I found out that not only is it a Art and Culture publication but also a clothing line, with a store in London. If the clothing line is anything to go by the publication, then quality, attention to detail and presentation will be amongst some of it's strengths. 

Throughout the publication there are beautiful illustrations by the talented Micah Lideberg. I hadn't come across his work before, but after taking a look he is incredibly talented and each of his designs is well thought out and breath taking. Serge DeNimes: Bloggers Breakfast

Friday 21/12/2012 was a very memorable day for many, and for me it wasn't only because of for the supposed 'end of the world' but because I got to hang out with Oliver Proudlock at his pop up store on Dover Street. When I found out that there was a bloggers breakfast and a chance to hear about Serge DeNimes straight from owner Proudlock himself I jumped at the chance. 

I don't know about you but I am a HUGE fan of Made In Chelsea (a show documenting the lifes of the rich in Chelsea that subsequently brought Proudlock to our screens). However during the talk Proudlock was insistant that he wanted to keep Serge DeNimes as seperate from Made in Chelsea as he could and to be honest I don't blame him. Hailing from a background in Art, Proudlock fuses the boundaries of art and fashion so beautifully. Back in series 2 Proudlock mentioned a little bit about his t-shirt brand but it was only last week that the brand had it's launch night.  This followed by a 10 day pop-up store on Dover Street which was where the bloggers breakfast took place.  

 For those of you that know me know I am not particularly a morning person, but for the chance to catch up with other bloggers, have some tasty brownies by Wraggamuffins and to chat to Proudlock I certainly did not mind! Networking is the key to blogging and the fashion industry and some great blogs to check out from the morning are Seeing stars in my eyes, Berlin London, and Style the natives.

With so many t-shirt brands with similar designs out there it's important to stand out and the Serge De Nimes prints do just that. Firstly you might be thinking what does Serge DeNimes really mean? Well like you I was equally curious and had to start researching. Interestingly Serge DeNimes is about the origin of denim. Okay so maybe now you are thinking where is the denim in the collection? Proudlocks mum actually used to have a denim brand and his future plans include a lot of denim. This will start with injecting denim into his t-shirt designs and will then progress from there.

Even though when you are reading this the pop-up store will actually be over it isn't all bad news. The future is actually looking very bright for Serge DeNimes and I can't wait to follow it's journey. You can order online for an after christmas treat now and I have no doubt they will have another pop up before long.

Tim Walker: Story Teller exhibition

So I FINALLY got the chance to go and visit Tim Walker's Story Teller exhibition at Somerset House. Tim Walker's work is absolutely magical and as soon as I heard he had an exhibition I knew I must see it. Set in the beautiful Somerset House the exhibition was so much better than exhibition. Rather than just Tim's images on the wall there is set design, props from the photo shoots and brilliant quotes from Tim himself. For anyone that lives in London or can make a visit it is well worth it! You aren't allowed to take pictures in the exhibition and there are workers everywhere reminding you of this! I did however manage to get a few pictures that I have put into a collage for you. As well as exhibitions Somerset House 'skate' is also open now and it is feeling very christmassy down there. For anyone with a slight interest in fashion or photography it really is a must see! I took my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised about how much he enjoyed-it really does offer something for everyone. As I couldn't take many pictures at the exhibition I have collated some images by Tim Walker.

Marilyn Monroe: A British Love Affair

Yesterday I took the day out to go and view some of the exhibition's that I have been blogging about. The first stop was the Marilyn Monroe exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. It was fairly small but as well as beautiful pictures of Marilyn there is so much to see at the National Portrait Gallery a trip there will never be wasted. 

Marking just over 50 years since Marilyn's death the exhibition focuses mainly on her connections with England. Portrait's of Marilyn were on display by photographers Antony Beauchamp, Baron and of course Cecil Beaton. Mario Testino currently has an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, showing a series of photographs of the Royal Family -which is worth checking out.

This exhibition is perfect for those who want to see the beautiful blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe from a British photographers point of view. This summer marked 50 years since Marilyn's death but she is still as iconic as ever. Photographers include: Antony Beauchamp, Cecil Beaton and Baron.

This exhibition is perfect for those with a passion for fashion designer or those studying a degree in fashion. The exhibition isn't free but I am sure the set, celebrating the life and work of Valentino will be worth every penny. The exhibition centre piece is a real life catwalk which it's visitors will walk along. In a role reversal the audience will all be sat wearing head to toe Valentino. The exhibition also hosts a room featuring previously unseen images of the work and play behind the brand, Valentino. Whilst at Somerset House you can all check out Tim Walker's Story Teller Exhibition for free.

Pandemonia.

I am writing an article all about conceptual artist Pandemonia for the fifth Issue of Third Floor. I have blogged about him before but after an extensive few hours researching her I am fully transfixed with the image she portray's and the life she lead's. She answered in one interview that she doesn't leave the house unless dressed as 'Pandemonia' but then how would we know, if nobody know's who Pandemonia even is? Here are the images from i-D winter issue shot by Peter Ashworth.
