Alexa Chung IT
A couple of weeks ago I was delighted to be accepted by Access All ASOS to be a part of their exciting group! My first invitation from Access All ASOS was to request a signed copy of Alexa Chung, IT before it hit ASOS.com. I have always loved Alexa's effortless style and was funnily enough just about to buy this book, so of course I wanted to try my luck! From the people that applied 25 were chosen and I was one of the lucky ones who received a signed copy. I have recently moved house so the address I had given was my address work. This would all be fine but as I had a week off work I had to wait a whole week to see the copy, it killed me! Although when I arrived at work on Monday morning it definitely helped me get through my first day back at work. I wanted to share with you some snapshots of the book, that tells Alexa's life through her pictures, illustrations and short tales. It is a must for anybody who loves Alexa Chung and as we are creative souls it has the right balance between writing and visual stimulation. For all you fashionista's wanting to break into the career it is a great pick, lets not forget she has a Mulberry named after her so she is certainly doing something right!

Twentythree
I have been so busy recently that I haven't had time to blog much. I have turned 23 (boy do I feel old), been to Royal Ascot, the latest PAUSE has been released and I got a new job! I am going to try my best to catch up this week with all my shenanigans and back on this blogging bandwagon. I am starting with a few pictures from my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I had a great day as my family came to London to visit me for the day. See Mr Handy the chihuahua in the picture, he even has his own instagram page: @themrhandy.http://instagram.com/themrhandy I was very spoilt with an iPad, Vivienne Westwood bag, leather jacket, trip to Women in Black and much more!! I will post a picture of the lovely Vivienne Westwood bag soon, it is a wardrobe staple!

LCM: Baartmans & Siegel S/S 14
One thing I love is a design duo, and even better is a design duo that use their cultures and experiences to compliment each other. With Baartmans & Siegel's Dutch/British background and their love of fashion they bonded whilst working at Viktor & Rolf. I loved their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection that was set in a cinema in Covent Garden so I was intrigued as what they would have to offer for Spring/Summer 2013. The South Pacific Aviation collection was mainly navy and cream with minimal structures and silhouettes. The setting was what made the presentation for me with a room filled with tropical shrubbery and a relaxed atmosphere really made for a summer vibe. I also have to mention I got to finally see the B&S mascot, Noodle the pet dachshund.
LCM: Nick Tensis S/S 14
As always as fashion weeks I will not learn. The fashion editor advised once again to wear comfortable shoes but I simply refused so knowing I could chill out at the Nick Tensis presentation in a beautiful hotel was a relief for both me and my poor feet. I was joined by Camilla from Who's Jack and it was so lovely to relax, enjoy a couple of Martini's and appreciate a well tailored suit. Nick Tensis added a modern edge to Savile Row with cropped trousers and pastel shades of blue and lemon that were popular. Menswear ambassador, Dermot O'Leary got involved on the action and was seen taking a closer inspection at the collection. Brilliant presentation and brilliant Spring/Summer 2014 collection for Nick Tensis.

NAWMAN It's over
I remember back in those dark days when I was writing my dissertation 'Are subcultures relevant in the 21st century?', band tee's were literally taking over our high streets. At the time I spent a lot of time researching into peoples buying habits and everyone was so crazy about band tee's. Most of the people interviewed couldn't name or had never listened to a song from the band they were showing off to the world. This frustrated me so much although I myself was guilty of this and at the time had a Ramones tee stuffed in the bottom of one of my drawers. I felt like such a hypocrite but don't worry as soon as my dissertation was submitted straight onto ebay it went. Band tees still remain in our high streets, and probably will always have an impact on fashion but the consumption seems to be a lot more subtle. However there is a new tee that has now taken over and I have to vent my frustrations. The fake designer novelty tee is everywhere I go and the worst bit about it is most people that are purchasing them don't even understand the meaning behind them and simply think they are 'cool'. The Homies tee is probably the most over done with but most people I spoke to had no idea it had any link to the 'Hermés' Paris tee. I mean come on?! The Homies image is now plastered all over beanies, tees, jumpers and totes. When will this end?! The 'Aint Laurent Without Yves' tee was actually one that I really liked the first time I saw it and bought it instantly. However after taking it home and thinking 'Katie you hypocrite', once again, I returned it. I think what made it for me was when I saw a tee copying Balmain that said NAWMAN- It's over... It really is over so people please stop buying them!I personally would like a genuine Céline Paris tee and not one that says Féline Meow or Céline Dion thank you very much.

Takin' care of business

Even though I don't regularly practice as a photographer my degree in Fashion with Photography keeps me interested in the latest editorials, adverts and fashion films. There are a lot of talented photographers and stylists out there but often the concepts behind the editorials lack imagination and blend in amongst the rest. However, when I saw 'Takin' care of business' for Bon Magazine I loved it. 7 women are styled in their usual attire for work and an image of their work place is posted opposite. I'm not sure that my mechanic looks quite so stylish when I pop in for my yearly MOT but the juxtaposition of the contrasting images works brilliantly. The simplicity in the styling and the layout adds to the impact of the concept. Well done Bon Magazine- a great editorial.

TMRW / ISSUE 03 / ARLISSA INTERVIEW
I love a chance to interview new faces whether it be music or fashion related so I jumped at the chance to interview the wonderful Arlissa for Issue 03 of Indie magazine, TMRW. Named as the BBC Sound of 2013 and with a single with Nas already released she is doing incredibly well. TMRW is a great magazine that features not only new faces but the well known in music and fashion On the cover of Issue 03 is Ellie Goulding. You can purchase your copy online or in many retailers such as Selfridges. I would suggest taking a visit to Selfridges as their magazine section is pure magazine heaven!

Trend Watch: Floral Passion
This is probably the most girly style post I have ever posted and I'm sure I ever will! I wear a lot of black and dark colours but the weather in London today has inspired me to look to the Spring/Summer trends for inspiration. Floral prints are start to fill our high street stores and online boutiques already in time for Summer. The prints are mainly delicate with some heavier prints also making a huge impact. I am on the search for a floral trouser and blazer combo at the moment, as they were a huge hit at London Fashion Week, but so far I am failing to find the right one. To wear floral I would probably pick one of the above items and layer with a lot of black. Ok so I really can't take black completely out of my wardrobe...sorry! I love the blazer from designer, MinkPink and I have a feeling it will stay in your wardrobe for the next few seasons. Whether you want to wear floral top to toe or take a more subtle approach like myself, embrace it somehow. With floral anything goes and you can also recycle some old floral pieces from past seasons.

Glitz & Gemz
If you have been reading my blog recently you will already be aware of my new fascination with rhinestones, gems, pearls and pretty much any form of DIY/embellishment. Decorating your clothes with beads, sequins isn't something new but rhinestones are definitely making a big comeback. Take a look at number 1-don't they just take you back to your youth? I remember I had a purse with a very similar design when I was younger (doubt I had any money in it-whats changed haha).

Jessica Chastain for W Magazine: January 2013
'I love wigs, I love costumes, I love anything that will get me into the character.' Jessica Chastain
The relationship between art and fashion is always up for discussion for those interested in art and fashion. W Magazine have taken this topic and used it as the main theme for their January Issue the 'Art meets fashion' edition. Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain graces the cover of W Magazine in the multi cover issue.
After being described as the 'ultimate muse' Jessica has been re-interpreted by visual artists; George Condo, Rineke Dijkstra, Chantal Joffe and Mickalene Thomas for the latest issue of W Magazine. My favourite cover has to be the George Condo interpretation, it is quite simply a work of art. Jessica's striking red hair (admittedly a wig) looks beautiful in contrast as she blends into George Condo's art work.

Winter Wonderland: Topshop Christmas Campaign
Christmas is one of my favourite times of year and I love anything that can get me in a christmassy mood! Earlier today Topshop announced that Kate Bosworth was the face of their first ever christmas campaign. If you follow Topshop on twitter you may have seen throughout the week that they launched a #whosthatgirl competition to build some excitement around who the mystery face could be! Over a five day period social media fans were given clues as to who would be singing Winter Wonderland.
As well as photography for billboards and on Topshop.com the christmas campaign also includes a video of Kate Bosworth herself singing her version of Winter Wonderland, which coincidently was directed by her boyfriend, Michael Polish. Unfortunately the dress that Kate wears in the video isn't available to those in the UK and will be available to buy in America to mark the opening of the LA Topshop in February 2013.

PAUSE Magazine: Issue 2
I have been writing with PAUSE for a few months now and I have now interviewed both of their cover stars: Mikill Pane (Issue 1) and Vince Kidd (Issue 2). PAUSE is a menswear magazine, documenting everything from styling tips to up-and-coming designers. A lot of hard work goes into the online blog and the printed magazine and I am so proud to be a part of it! You can order your FREE issue here: http://pausemag.co.uk/?p=7126
Everything from the graphics to the photography has really improved this issue, it is definitely a magazine to watch out for. It would be great to get some feedback on my interview with Vince Kidd for any of you who do order a copy!

Christmas spirit: Selfridges window displays
So last week I started my new (temporary) job at Forever 21 on Oxford St. As it was my first week I kept finding myself turning up very early!! One day I turned up at 8am and thought I would go and have a good look at the Selfridges window displays. I had briefly walked past them but it was the perfect time to have a glimpse and to take pictures as Oxford St was deserted!
| Look at all those Quality Street. It is definitely Christmas time! |
Once again Selfridges have out done themselves and created a range of beautiful and creative windows-they definitely show the other department stores how it is done! My favourite part of the window displays has to be the corner window entitled 'The Anya Hindmarch all I ever wanted'. I'm not too sure how much input Anya had herself but she must be so proud-from an abundance of quality street to little toy trains and stunning Anya Hindmarch bags the window is a work of art!
Christmas is such an exciting time of the year, especially for children. This window display shows a more playful side of christmas as children received their presents Love the Harry Potter style shades kids!

| Wouldn't mind an iPad for christmas..... Please Santa! |
This has to be the cutest of the window displays-teddy bear picnic. I wouldn't say it was exactly traditional but I like it..
